Thank you very much for supporting The Japan Society’s 29th Annual Ambassador’s Cup Golf Tournament, held on Wednesday, July 17th, 2024, at the Glen Abbey Golf Club in Oakville, Ontario.
Unfortunately, due to the extreme amount of rain, we were unable to proceed with the golf event. Instead, we hosted the Reception and Dinner only. Despite the cancellation of the golf portion, the primary purpose of the Ambassador’s Cup—fostering networking within the Canada-Japan business community—was successfully achieved. Over 100 attendees found the event to be a valuable opportunity for meaningful networking and were pleased with the evening's proceedings.
Special remarks were delivered by Mr. Ian McKay, Canadian Ambassador to Japan, and a Kampai (toast) was provided by Mr. Takeshi Matsunaga, Consul-General of Japan in Toronto. The event was co-chaired by Donald Campbell, Former Canadian Ambassador to Japan, and Dave McKechnie, Partner in Employment & Labour Relations at McMillan. One of the highlights of the evening was the announcement of the winner of a pair of Signature Class Tickets to Japan, donated by Air Canada, which was presented to Mr. Harold Reinders, President of Maple Reinders. Although we were unable to compete in a golf tournament, attendees enjoyed a trivia quiz and putting competition. Mr. Taro Akiyama of Taro's Fish was awarded a Sound Bar donated by Sony of Canada.
