The Japan Bowl Ontario 2024 was organized and successfully held by Huron University and The Japan Society on Saturday, March 16th, 2024.

Japan Bowl Ontario is an annual Japanese language and culture competition for high school students in Ontario, co-hosted by Huron University and the Japan Society. Marking the 7th year in 2024, it is inspired and supported by the Japan Bowl®, initiated and developed by the Japan-America Society of Washington DC in 1992, and supported by Her Imperial Highness Princess Takamado as an Honorary Patron.

Japan Bowl Ontario is designed to demonstrate achievement of knowledge of Japanese language, culture, society, daily life, history, geography, and current events. For the students, it provides opportunity to challenge and enjoy their study. Our goal is to strengthen students’ interest in Japan and encourage them to continue their connection with Japan and deepen further understanding of Japan in their future. Previous winning teams have been invited to the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affair’s Kakehashi Project to visit Japan.

We welcomed 7 teams/20 students to participate as well as volunteers, staff, guests, and celebrity judges. All the participants challenged a wide range of questions through the Preliminary Round. The top 3 teams were invited to the Final Round and awarded with prizes. In addition, all participants will receive gift package donated by donors.

We would like to thank the Japan-America Society of Washington DC and all the supporters for their involvement and generous support to let us continue this event.
